Our 2012 Oceanis 37 has an impressive looking fan and ducting system in the engine bay along with her Yanmar 3YM30 engine, but this fan system is not operational and I am receiving conflicting advice on the need for this system to be operational as I try to determine what to do about it. I have one mechanical specialist advising me that this system is essential for the effectiveness of the boats cooling system - especially during long periods of motoring, or motor-sailing, whilst another specialist is advising that 'these systems are a pile of junk which never work properly, and are not essential'.
The thoughts of the forum are very welcome on whether I need to pursue a repair to restore this fan and duct system and will be much appreciated.
