Good evening all. Having recently joined the association I have discovered the forums and see this particular forum as a suitable place to ask a few questions.
I need to climb my mast, with view to replacing a WINDEX - stolen by a seagull - and inspect generally. She has the in mast furling rig, so the main halyard is unavailable, leaving the topping lift, aft of the mast as a possibility, although I'd probably increase it to 10mm as the current appears to be around 6mm.
This brings forward the question; are the sheaves the same size - both topping and main. Or is the topping smaller and therefore not to be relied on?
Of the two halyards forward of the mast I would rather not use the spinnaker halyard that utilises a block held forward of the mast, but the other emerging direct from the mast appears to be a contender. Again, I don't know the sheave size?
Anyway, if anyone can assist or even provide an effective means of getting up there I would be very grateful.
Si.
