Starter motor issues

I have a Yanmar 3GM30F and am having starter motor issues. I spoke to an Auto Mechanic who suggested that he didn't know the best place to buy a new one but suggested I don't buy one that is made in china. I have been on loads of websites to resource a new one and the prices vary from around £100 to £400 (i guess the cheaper ones are reconditioned units), however all of the sites that confirm where the starter motors are from are from China.
Has anyone gone through the same issues?
